Description: The Environment Agency Ground Truth Surveys is an archive of elevation points and attribute information that have been independently surveyed to verify the accuracy of the EA's LIDAR Timestamped surveys. Captured by various independent surveyors, a ground truth survey is a collection of a few hundred points captured on a flat, unambiguous surface such as a tarmac car park or tennis court using GPS. Each ground truth point has an accuracy of +/-3cm RMSE. Each ground truth point contains the following attributes: • GT Survey Name: The unique ground truth the point was surveyed as a part off. Each Survey is a collection of a few hundred individual points. • Polygon ID: The unique polygon ID the Ground Truth Survey was captured under. • Easting: The OSGB easting position of the point. • Northing: The OSGB northing position of the point. • Elevation (m): The elevation of the surveyed point in metres. • Survey Method: The survey method used; either Smartnet, RTK or Stop-Go. • Surface: The surface the point was taken on. • Survey Date: The Date of the survey. • Survey Year: The Year of the survey. • GPS Day: The GPS day of the survey. The first 2 digits represent the year and the final 3 the day within the year starting at 0 for January 1st. • Transformation Model: the OS Transformation model used, either OSTN’02 or OSTN’15. • Geoidal Model: the OS Geoidal model used, either OSGM’02 or OSGM’15.
